Acitrol is an optimum blend of different food-grade and processing-aid acids.
For rendering use:
Designed to be spray applied to fresh offal and render-material that is transported off site for further processing. Acitrol works by lowering the pH on the surface of the material to give a biostatic effect, thereby prolonging the freshness until it is received for further processing. The optimum blend of acids gives good microbial control, with less corrosion and safety issues than using straight sulphuric acid.
For vegetable processing:
Acitrol can also be used for preserving vegetables, to reduce enzymatic browning. To be effective, the sanitised water containing the Acitrol needs to be maintained at a certain pH for a specific length of time.
